The world is today’s college campus. Never before have we had so much to learn from other nations and cultures.
Our students know this perhaps better than anyone and look to the university to take advantage of its global connections to expose them to a broad, international perspective.
Our faculty members extend their reach far beyond our three campuses. Their research, service and teaching take them, and their students, to such diverse places as Ghana, Mexico, China and Argentina.
Whether you are a student, a faculty member or on the staff, I encourage you to think globally when making study, research or travel plans.
When making those plans, please use the rich information resources the university provides to support your travel. You can access these new features through the “Global Michigan” website.
There you will find details about study abroad programs, research and internship opportunities, as well as information about the university’s collaborations around the world.
Global Michigan is also where you will find a new travel registry with comprehensive health and safety resources that support international travel.
I urge all members of the university community — faculty, staff, and students — to register their international travel plans before departing.
The resources the university offers are aimed at one goal: To increase the amount of international study and research, especially by our students.
Global engagement provides a unique learning experience and exposes students and scholars to new knowledge, ideas and people. At the University of Michigan, we believe deep, cultural understanding comes through shared experiences. Global study makes that possible.
Thank you and Go Blue … abroad!
